A Resolution For Better Oral Health

Every year millions of Americans begin January making resolutions. For about 45 percent of them, their resolutions include losing weight or getting physically healthy. Unfortunately, by the beginning of February, it is estimated that about 80 percent of those resolutions fail. An average of only 8 percent actually carry those resolutions through the year and succeed at them.

Perhaps the majority of people do not resolve at the beginning of the year to take better care of their oral health, but the team at New Beginnings Dental Center wants you to know that by keeping some of those weight loss resolutions or goals for better health, you are very likely taking better care of your oral health along the way. It is vital that you see your dentist on a regular basis, but even more important is how you live your life and take care of your oral health outside of the dentist office.

According to the American Heart Association, there is a connection between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease. While it has been difficult for medical professionals to explain why this connection exists, there is enough evidence to suggest it is the truth. Many believe that the risk is higher for heart attacks, strokes, and even some types of cancer in people with periodontal disease because of the inflammation that occurs. Whatever the reason, we want you to live a long and healthy life, and at New Beginnings Dental Center, we know that means keeping up with your oral health and seeing your dentist on a regular basis for cleanings.

What have you resolved to do this year? May we suggest that you add improving your oral health to the list? If you have not been to the dentist in a long time, or you have just missed an appointment or two, it is never too late to start taking care of your teeth and gums. At New Beginnings Dental Center, our dental staff offers several options for dental care. Whether you are just in need of a routine cleaning, want a dental cosmetic procedure done, or need more intensive care, we are ready to help you meet your resolution.
